1843 Chattel Record Abstracts - Dorchester County, Md

Chattel records are the sale of personal property such as boats, slaves, livestock, etc. These are abstracts of the records. Most records go into alot of detail concerning the property, such as name of mare, what field the corn is in, etc. I am reading these records on microfilm and they are not always clear. If you are interested in a record ALWAYS get a copy of the original. Copies can be ordered from the Maryland State Archives, 350 Rowe Blvd, Annapolis, Md 21401 (email: archives@mdarchives.state.md.us) You may also fax them at 410-974-3895 Good Luck and check back often for updates.
